Out of hours work - Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th March 2020
On Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th March SRM will undertake the brushing of concrete out of hours between 6pm and midnight.
The brushing of concrete involves the use of a manual brush (e.g. broom) that is pulled over the top of semi-cured concrete to give it a rough/non-slip finish. The brushed finish applies to the carpark levels including 3 levels of the Forensic Building and lower ground floor of the Non-Forensic Building.
No plant will be in operation during these works with the exception of lighting towers to provide a safe working environment. The lighting towers will be directed away from residential properties to reduce light spillage and will be shielded with acoustic barriers to prevent noise pollution.
These works need to be undertaken out of hours as the freshly poured concrete needs to be given time to sufficiently cure before brushing.
SRM understand the potential nuisances associated with working such hours and measures are being taken to reduce potential impacts on surrounding neighbours. The activity itself is quiet and SRM are using new, acoustically shielded, lighting towers to help prevent the generation of noise. Wandsworth council have been advised of the works accordingly.
SRM are due to undertake these works periodically throughout the next 12 months as the hospital buildings are constructed. Notification will be given in advance of such future events on the Springfield Village Website.
