Temporary restriction of vehicular access across the Springfield University Hospital site
Updated 15 April 2020
With government approval of the Springfield Estate Modernisation Programme now received, building work on the new fit-for-purpose mental health facilities and the surrounding site infrastructure has begun in earnest.
As part of the re-development, the internal site roads need to be upgraded and services installed beneath them.
We therefore advise from 20 April 2020 until the end of October 2020, the section of road (shown in red on the plan below) between West Wing, Building 15 (Trust HQ) and Building 32 (Recovery College/Restaurant/Conference Centre) will be closed to allow for essential infrastructure works and construction of the new road to take place.
There will be no vehicular through-route during this period, however pedestrian access will be maintained.
Vehicular access to Ronald Gibson House, Ghodse and High Trees will be via Burntwood Lane only. All other buildings including Car Park B will only have vehicular access via the Glenburnie Road entrance.
We do apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and are committed to managing the site to minimise disruption as far as is safely possible. Overall, we believe the delivery of much needed mental health facilities; a new public park and public realm and the necessary supporting infrastructure will be of real benefit to the whole community.
