Springfield Village Team Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week (9-15 May 2022)

With a really tough couple of years for all of us living through the pandemic, looking after our mental health is so important. That’s why the Springfield Village team remains committed to raising Mental Health Awareness. Below we are sharing some of the initiatives put forward by the South West London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) and our construction partners.

Last week STEP organised a Mental Health Awareness Session which all contractors were invited to attend, this is a very informative session which we run regularly and encourage all operatives on site to attend.

SWLSTG have shared a link to help with this year’s theme of Loneliness. Click here to view.

They are also hosting a virtual eating disorder awareness summit on 12 May. To register please click here.

Main contractor for the mental health units, park and infrastructure Sir Robert McAlpine supports its staff with access to Mental Health First Aiders. They also ran Mental Health sessions on site last week hosted by comedian John Ryan, 4 sessions were ran throughout the day with managers, supervisors and operatives in attendance.

Barratt London (housebuilder for plots B-E and L&M at Springfield) also supports staff with Mental Health First Aiders. They are running various internal webinars this week which they encourage all employees to join where possible.

Both firms are conscious that incidences of mental health problems in the construction industry are higher than average and so also offer toolbox talks and webinars on the subject as well as comprehensive Employee Assistance Programmes.
