Take part in upcoming consultation on the final stage of residential development
South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust and master developer STEP, are pleased to update you on the redevelopment of Springfield University Hospital and the creation of Springfield Village.
The Trust has been working with the community, service users and key stakeholders since 2004 to transform the site and deliver new, modern mental health inpatient facilities. Excellent progress has been made to date on delivering the wider Springfield Village masterplan and if you would like to find out more about Springfield Village, the Estate Modernisation Programme and to watch an animated timeline, please click here.
The new mental health facilities at Springfield are on course to open from October, which is a significant milestone. These new buildings will provide high-quality inpatient services and sit at the heart of Springfield Village, a new mixed-used community, combining healthcare and residential neighbourhoods in a parkland setting. Excellent progress has been made to date delivering the wider Springfield Village masterplan and you can read more in our recent newsletter here.
Delivering the final phase of Springfield Village
It has been over a decade since the outline masterplan for Springfield Village was approved, which established the principles of development. In recent years, detailed applications for each plot have been brought forward in line with modern planning policy and optimised the number of homes within the approved building height and massing.
As a result, the previously approved number of homes (839) have been delivered to date and plots X, Y and Z are surplus under the original planning permission. This provides the opportunity for these plots to be reviewed and for more new homes to delivered, in turn securing the funding necessary for the Trust to complete its transformation programme. We are delighted to confirm that Barratt London has been selected to review the previous plans for X, Y and Z and how these plots can be brought forward under a new planning application.
The Trust, STEP and all of our development partners are committed to working with our neighbours, businesses and the wider community to deliver a development with real and lasting benefits.
We would like to invite you to consultation events in October where we will share the plans with the community and ask for your feedback. The events are taking place on:
